TRANS AM Road Race - Official Thread

I just wanted to give everyone a 'Heads up'...we are a month out from the Trans-Am race! You can just run your Pony Wars cars, if you want...or you can send in all new cars for the Tran-Am race...or, you can send in new cars AND continue to run the Ponys (I'm assuming that's what most will want to do!)

I've been messing with some track layouts...I'll have it nailed down by race day!

A couple of questions about the TransAm race.  I have finished my three cars and was wondering if I could get the address to send them to and how much money should I enclose for the return shipment.  This will be my first race with you guys and I am looking forward to it.  As I do not have any FTE wheels and axles I feel fairly certain that I will be proudly guarding the rear but I will use this to learn and become more competitive as I learn.

I'm glad you are going to be racing with us! The Trans-Am race is going to be a little different...cars going around corners, so, don't sell yourself short!

I hadn't really set a limit for the number of cars in this series...I mentioned in the Ponys thread, that if you had Pony Wars cars running, you could add another 2 to bring your total to 5 cars.

Hi Guys,

I thought I'd stir this one up a little bit. This race is going to be here pretty darned fast...we are 2 and a half weeks out! And I don't really have any hosts lined up!

But, that's okay! I do have a plan! :) In the original post for doing a Tran-Am race, the idea was tossed around to do a series of different contests with these cars to determine a good 'All-around' car...so that's what I'll do!

I'll run a 'Road Course' style race (yup, with corners!), a traditional drag race (like our usual races), a 'Hill Climb' (or a 'roll for distance'/best roll-out contest), a 'Loop-da-Loop' race (a race where the track has a loop in it) and a 'Jump for distance' contest. I'll run these events on each weekend in March, and points will be awarded in each event. So, by the end of March, we will have a 'Best All Around/Trans-Am' winner!

The Pony Wars cars are going to make up this field (if you don't want your Pony Cars in this event, just let me know). And you can send in an additional two Trans-Am cars (so, you can have as many as 5 cars in this!)

If any one would like to host an event for this series, let me know. As it stands right now, I'll be putting the cars through their paces to determine a winner!

Would it be reasonable to make a rule limiting the stance of the entries to at least resemble the stance of the actual cars? Maybe no "gasser" style or jacked up rides? Or maybe any wheel type but limit the size of the wheels to small? Just throw'n it out there.

The way I feel about it, I don't really think I have to put rule in like that...since it is a 'Trans-Am' race, I'm going to assume that everyone is going to build 'Trans-Am-like' cars. And, if they think a gasser Camaro will get around corners and over jumps, then that is up to them!

I have thought about doing a 'little tire class'...I've been kicking around the idea of a lightweight 'Econo-box' race, which were limited to only running the little fte's...Golfs, Fiat 500's, Mini's...might be good fun!
