Hot Wheels World Race
Great effort on that video. Hats off as I know how much time editing video takes (which is why I don't do it often). Also once and for all tells me that race video is a 2-man operation. You following the cars while the other drops the gate is perfect.
That slow-mo is great off the iPhone and it does a wonderful job at showing the "wiggle" that happens in racing...makes the point of having a straight car all the more clear. Of course, I noticed when I was playing with my video that it can also show off the "wrinkles" in the track more than even your eye catches it.
Great stuff man...the more you do it the better it'll all be.
Oh hey...can I send you a graphic to print out and get a RLD logo on the boards you use to keep the track straight? :) Are those 1x6 boards?
...and I can only hope that I can beat TE with his own truck, muahahaha!

Great racing guys. The slow mo builds so much anticipation. I got knocked out in Round 2 for both entries, but was on the edge on my seat until the very end of the finals. I'm eager to see what happens today!

All right guys. It's time for the second installment of the world race! You guys are in a real treat for this one!
This is the warm up for our larger open track course later in the series. The action is intense and there will be some yells of joy, tears of sorrow, but that's racing. Rally case and I had a blast hosting this one and we were so emotionally invested
The way this race works
Heats consist of three cars each. Each runs in each lane once. A first place win earns 3 points, 2nd place gets you 2, 3rd gets you 1 and a DNF earns zero points. The car with the highest total and the end of each asdvances. Because of our 24 car field, the heats narrowed it down to 8 and we ran a grudge match between the highest scoring nonwinners from the first heats to have 9 cars in round 2. I hope you guys enjoy, the action is real, the passes are awesome, the drifts are insane and the wipeouts are awesome but also saddening!

Quickly becoming a fan of open track racing, talk about slicing and dicing. Plenty of rubbing going on. Some very close and exciting race action.
The semis & finals were incredible to watch. Felt like I was getting ganged up on... feeling the squeeze once the lane dividers ended.
Saw my Datsun diving for the apex in one race... very cool track guys!
So far the action has been nothing short of exhilarating! Like Traction Event said, this one's even more dramatic than the Factory Wars -have already experienced the joy of victory and the agony of defeat! and we're just getting started. Thanks for making this happen -your hard work translates into pure entertainment for the Hot Wheel racing fan!
Just watched the Round 2 video again. This is such a cool event. Kudos and thank you for all the prep, video, and editing. I'd love to see this become an annual event as I'm already contemplating what I could've done better. I'm not sure the weight of the other cars, but I went lighter thinking it would help on the big half of the tracks. Instead, my cars are getting bullied around as soon as it opens up. Your advice of long wheel base seems to be spot on. Can't wait to see Round 3!

- And held their lines better. Speed played in too in the cases where someone could outrun the field into the turn and then run clean, but — cliffordshaw

Hope everyone enjoyed world race #1 and the epic-length video. Slo mo takes a while to watch down but it really allows you to study what's going on. Someone mentioned how wiggles scrub off speed, well that will play out even stronger on blu-track where the lanes are wider and the wigglers (two of which are mine) will do some serious lateral traveling. This was the most traditional race and it looks like TE, JDC and 2seven brought the straight speed. From here on out the tracks get funky and we'll see if speed remains king. Next up is "intro to open track", it's a short track, three orange lanes feed into a length of straight open track, then into the high banked 180 open turn, then back out onto straight open track to the finish line. Things tend to get tangled in the turn and come out different than they went in - leaders get tapped and spun, cars get sideways and block, and sometimes while 1 and 2 are banging, the guy running last finds a hole and squirts through to the finish. Should be great fun. Every car runs in each of the three lanes for each heat with the points leader advancing. That makes 8 cars going into round 2. To make it 9, the top three point winners that did NOT advance will duke it out in a grudge match for a second chance as the 9th entry. The 9 will race off to a three car final. That means lots of racing so as Smitty would say, "grab some popcorn and settle in".
