This event is part of the Triplemania Weekend which also includes the Ohio Diecast Challenge, Battle of the Builders, and Downhill Diecast Drags Championship. If you're entering this race, check out the other races too because a single car may qualify for several events. And if you're entering multiple cars in multiple events, just send them all at once.

The race team at Autobody Specialists (Columbus, OH) have challenged Redline Derby to a battle for speed. Our modders versus their modders. Yeah, it's friendly, but let's show them how we do things here at RLD.

There's no bracket in this one, it's all about the clock. The fastest average team time will be declared the winner.

The winning team will claim the Battle of the Builder's Trophy for the following year until next year's battle. The person with the fastest car from each team will get prizes worth bragging about.

For those that want their entry back after the race, return shipping is FREE for this event. But if you don't need to have your car returned, please choose to have it be donated to the weekend event where it will be made available to kids looking for some free cars to enjoy.

The team with the fastest overall average time will claim the Builder's Trophy for one year.

The person with the fastest car from each team will receive a Redline Derby Racing Axle Alignment Jig. Prizes available to US Residents only.

Track is a stock Drag Track system setup running 21-feet, owned and operated by the Autobody Specialists shop team. Both cars will be released at the same time. The timing tree is not being used, nor are times recorded for this race.

Race format and scoring

This is a team vs team event. Redline Derby Racing vs Autobody Specialists Team 164.

This is a fastest time event. Cars from each team will be paired and raced. Each car will get 2 trips down the track, one in each lane. The fastest time will be logged for each car.

The fastest average team time will be declared the winner. The size of each team will be determined by which team has the fewest entries. For example, if RLD has 12 entries but the Autobody team only has 5, only the Top 5 times will be averaged for each team.

The Drag Track starting gate is notorious for not dropping 100% of the time. Every effort will be made to get your car to release fairly for both lanes. If for whatever reason your car will not release on a specific lane after several attempts, the time for the other lane will be logged.

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not race.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will not race. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the tournament. Cars that break during the tournament will not be repaired or replaced.

If a car fails to reach the finish line in both runs, that car will receive a time of 10-seconds.

The Legion of Speed will be ready to race for RLD...we are prepared to march on Ohio once again...

Is the RPR car ok 4 me... if so I'm in.

  • Not sure exactly what RPR means but if it's a modified car and meets the limits, it can race — redlinederby
  • If not we will build you some from Htown for you, Eagle Prime and Danny Boy if you want. — MDG_Racing

  • Ahh, right...yup, you can race it as long as you're cool with knowing if it does well, it's an RPR build and not yours. — redlinederby
  • If Frank built the car for Taylor and he enters it, why is it under RPR auspice anymore. I have builds people race as themselves. He's just trying to contribute to the cause. — MDG_Racing

Buckle up peeps...the Legion of Speed is preparing to march on Ohio once again...the League of Speed...the Lady of Speed...Speedzilla and Speed Force

Glad to see all the excitement...but lets not forget this is a team race.

Anyone that enters via Redline Derby is on the same team. We're trying to run down the Autobody Specialists 164 team (which shouldn't be an issue, but still). Yeah, you get a prize if you have the fastest car of all, but I'm looking forward to the pride knowing our crew can run just about anyone else under the table.

  • Shouldn't be an issue? That's chalkboard material!! Home turf baby!! — ChiefWopahoo

The Summit Racers boys and I will make the short drive up from Cincinnati for sure!

Yes....we will be marching on Ohio carrying the RLD Banner...that Trophy and all Associated Glory wil belong to Redline Derby...the Legion will do what is expected of us...Elite Southern Speed is coming to OH

Be glad to help the RLD Team effort. Any castings Fantasy or Real? Interesting

  • Skies the limit your best. Although, I'd say it's fair that it should still look like a car :) No bricks, man. — redlinederby

Just a quick update that we've decided that Zoom-In casting mods are not allowed.

Sorry for any inconvenience or if you had already started a Zoom-In mod. Thanks for your understanding.

My car built for the RLD team. Hoping to not bring down the team average...

One of the vehicles the Autobody Specialists team is putting together. Our strategy is to try to stay close and hope someone on the other side gets a flat or runs out of gravity or something...  - Bruno
