Ohio Diecast Challenge
Friday, February 21st, 2020 View race results
This event is part of the Triplemania Weekend which also includes the Ohio Diecast Challenge, Battle of the Builders, and Downhill Diecast Drags Championship. If you're entering this race, check out the other races too because a single car may qualify for several events. And if you're entering multiple cars in multiple events, just send them all at once.

Nothing too fancy here, just some good old fashioned racing. Find or build a car and we'll race on a 21-ft Drag Track setup courtesy of the Autobody Specialists shop in Columbus, OH.
The winner will receive a new Redline Derby Axle Alignment Jig and other RLD swag.
For those that want their entry back after the race, return shipping is FREE for this event. But if you don't need to have your car returned, please choose to have it be donated to the weekend event where it will be made available to kids looking for some free cars to enjoy.

Prizes
The winner will receive a Redline Derby t-shirt. Prizes available to US Residents only.
Track
This is a stock Drag Track system setup running 21-feet, owned and operated by the Autobody Specialists shop team. Both cars will be released at the same time. The timing tree is not being used, nor are times recorded for this race.
Race format and scoring
This will be a round robin tournament where every car races against every other car once. The car with the most wins after all racing is done will be the winner. In the case there is a tie, the cars will race head-to-head, alternating lanes.
The Drag Track starting gate is notorious for not dropping 100% of the time. Every effort will be made to get your car to release fairly for both lanes. If for whatever reason your car will not release on a specific lane after several attempts, the time for the other lane will be logged.
Penalties/DNF
Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.
If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for tournament prizes. Offending cars may still race. Prize will go to the runner-up in the case of penalty car winning.
Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be repaired before the tournament. Cars that break during the tournament will not be repaired or replaced.
Discussion
My entry...
- LOL, that's awesome. It has everything! — redlinederby
- How many cars is that? Roger engine, Pontiac body, gasser chassis, nascar wheels??? — redlinederby
- Thanks, Slotted bottom of stock chassis, and moved axle under. Honestly not positive on the engine, it was in a box of "parts" I'd been saving — Traction-Event
- Im in love. — Mattman213
Either a Dodger or a Hot Tub engine
Last week to build!
This is your last week to build your entries and get them shipped. I'll be doing pickups everyday until the deadline next Monday, 2/17.
Can't wait to see the line-up. Good luck!
Due to the post office holdiay on Monday 2/17, the deadline has been extended to Wednesday 2/19. The last pickup will be late afternoon. But even with an extra day, your cars should probably get into the mail this weekend if they're not on their way already.
There will be no pickup on Thursday or Friday. I need those days to tag all the cars and prep for racing. Any cars that arrive after the cutoff will be returned over the following week along with all other entries.
We have 8 total entries for this race so due to the lower number, we'll be doing this race as a round robin rather than a standard elimination bracket.
Sorry for the audible call late in the game but an 8-car bracket just isn't exciting. Round robin means more racing and gives everyone more of a chance to win anyway. Good luck!
Roll call...here are the entries for the Ohio Diecast Challenge. These guys will all race each other to see who takes home the gold. All of them are top shelf builds or picks otherwise. Good luck!
Worpex Racing / Cadillac V16
Voxxer Racing / Mitsubishi Evo
Amir Khan / Gov'ner
Mattman213 / Way 2 Fast
Traction Event / Firegird Gasser
Go Time Racing / Muscle Speeder
League of Speed / Olds 442
RLD Racing / Nissan 180SX
We'll be using Challonge to log results as we race tonight, so you can follow along at the link below. And I'll probably be using Facebook to share things as well, so follow there if you're not already.
Racing is expected to happen after 5p tonight

I'm not sure how much video I'll be able to get of all the racing, I'll try my best. But the follow-up might just be a kind of highlight reel of what video clips I do manage to get.
Good Luck to all...thanks for the venue and opportunity to race.
Congrats to Go Time Racing and his Muscle Speeder...that thing was smokin' and didn't take a loss all night. Patrick will take home a Redline Derby shirt for his win.
Mattman's Way 2 Fast wasn't a slouch either, with Voxxer Racing, Amir Khan, and LoS rounding out the Top 5.
It was a smallish field but I'm glad we went with another round robin. Everyone on-site was following the battles and taking notes.
I did take some video but I'm not sure of the quality. I wasn't at home like normal so I was a little out of my comfort zone in figuring out the best angles and such. Racing went fast and we couldn't hang out forever so we kept things a brisk pace. I'll try to put together a highlight reel of some sort soon.
- Wow my v16 got killed. I don't know why I'm surprised, I never do well in mail-in events. Guess I just thought this car responded really well to graphic, had high hopes. It smoked the shadow jet, although that seemed to be be a common trend. Anyway, congrats to Go time! Maybe I'll have a better day tomorrow — WorpeX
- Good stuff! Congrats GoTime on winning out. If I was more confident in my graphite process holding up over multiple runs I woulda ran the Chrome Bullet in all 3 races this weekend but the Way2Fast was cooking too so I figured it would be perfect for this race. Would love to see how close it was! Here's to hoping they all do well tomorrow as well! — Mattman213
Just a quick update that we've decided that Zoom-In casting mods are not allowed. If you care to enter a Zoom-In as a stock entry, that is fine.
Sorry for any inconvenience or if you had already started a Zoom-In mod. Thanks for your understanding.
